Hidden Illnesses

By May 29, 2017 Crazy Rants, General, Uncategorized

Sometimes when a person is sick, there are no outward signs.  So when someone says, “You don’t look sick,” don’t get upset or hurt by what they say.  Simply smile and walk away or just walk away.  I know how hurtful it is and how hard it is to explain.

I have two autoimmune diseases and there is no outward signs.  They have progressively gotten worse in the last year and on top of this, I have something wrong in my lower back that is making it very difficult to walk or stand or sit for very long.

There are no cures for the two diseases I have but there are ways to lessen the symptoms but it takes a long time for you to see any kind of relief.  I have Epstein Barr Syndrome – which is chronic fatigue and  I have fibromyalgia which is where the nerves are overactive and sensitive through out your entire body.

In the last few days I have start a detox to clean my body of toxins and an autoimmune protocol diet to see what I can change to help at least with the fibromyalgia.  There is a link on the right hand side of my blog for Super Green Juice. That is what I am drinking to detox.  I’m still drinking my athletic greens and my zip fizz for the vitamins and vegetables/fruits.  I’m eating at least one meal a day and maybe a snack.

I know there are drugs on the market to help with pain and symptoms, but I no longer want to mask the symptoms, I want to control the disease instead of it controlling me.

Besides the detox and the diet change, which is not really a diet, I’ve started using some homeopathic remedies to help with the pain.  We are switching from processed foods to organic or as close to organic as we can get.  It has taken over a year for me to be convinced that drugs and processed food are not helping but making things worse.  Just in the last week, I’ve discovered that wheat, cheese and pasteurized milk are things I cannot eat with out major pain.  I believe that potatoes are another issue so I’m cutting those out as well as tomatoes and anything else from the nightshade plant area.

I developed allergies to some foods after my gastric bypass but have always just said that depending on how bad I want them, I can deal with the outcome.  Not so any longer.  So no more shellfish, ranch dressing, or chocolate.

My goal is before our cruise next June (2018), I have this all worked out and will not have to worry about pain and fatigue from disease.

Be mindful of people that say they are sick or don’t feel good!  Just because you can’t see the disease or the sickness doesn’t mean that they aren’t really sick.

Have a great day!

Cruising – 2018

By May 11, 2017 Crazy Rants, General, Uncategorized

So in 414 days, Norman and I will be boarding the Freedom of the Seas for another cruise.  Royal Caribbean is an awesome cruise line.  This will be mine fourth cruise with them, and his third.  We are doing a Southern Caribbean cruise this time.  It sails from San Juan, Puerto Rico and goes to 4 different island, none of which I have been too.  I’m beyond excited.  We still have to book airfare, but that is okay.  I plan to do that in a couple of months.

With this being said, this gives me a little over a year to get my back repaired and get my weight down.  I’ve been slowly changing my habits and as I change things it takes a few days for my body to adjust.  My biggest adjustment right now is the raw milk, but my body has finally adapted.  I already buy organic meat from Zaycon Fresh or as close to organic as possible without the expense.  I’m increasing my protein, lowering my carbs, and after the doctor next week, hope I can go back to working out.

Anyway, there is a plan in place and action has started.  Have a great day!  Leave a comment and let me know what your vacation plans are for this year and next!

I’ve been to a lot of places in the United States.  I still have a lot of states I would like to visit, but traveling by car is more fun to see some of those places as opposed to flying.  I’ve never traveled by train and sometimes I think that would be fun.

At War – My Brain and My Body

By May 9, 2017 Crazy Rants, General, Uncategorized

It is definitely no secret that I have been overweight all my life.  Even when i had lost 165 pounds, my fiance at the time, made fun of my weight.  He didn’t last long in my life.

Lately however, all I can think about is losing weight and getting fit.  I’ve tried to not count calories.  I’ve tried to let it go so that it will happen as I eat properly.  I’ve been getting rid of the bad food and adding the good nutrient dense foods.  I’ve cut down my portion size.  But other than 12 pounds that I lost from January 4 to the end of February, no success.  My body is at war with my brain.  They no longer communicate!  They need to reconcile so that I can concentrate and do the correct thing!  My body just wants to sleep and my brain never shuts down.  I hate this feeling.  Part of it to is that I have 3 compressed discs in my lower back and I need to alleviate the pain.  To do that, I have to go see a spine specialist.  I DO NOT LIKE DOCTORS!  Anyway, I know that will help some.

When I feel like I’m not in control of my surroundings, I get very agitated and I guess a little depressed.

And yes before anyone asks, I’m taking my hormones!  LOL!  However, those do bad things to my body.  My feet swell, my sugar gets out of whack and I gain weight.  So do I want to take them, no!  I haven’t found any way to replace the hormones with out taking medicine.  Believe me, you want me to take them!  Just ask my co-workers, my daughter and my husband!  I went bat shit crazy about a month ago, after I stopped taking them for 3 months.  It wasn’t fun!

I’m not exactly sure what my point was with this post other than I feel like my body and brain are fighting and I don’t know how to make them stop!!!!

Have a great day!

Cucamelons – Have you seen?

By May 2, 2017 Crazy Rants, General, People Treats

Okay so twice now on Facebook  I’ve seen pics of these little miniature watermelons.  The first time I saw them, I thought that maybe someone had just crossed a cucumber with a watermelon and got this cute little thing.  Not so!  You can actually buy seeds and or plants.  Supposedly they taste like cucumbers with a hint of lime.  I’m always looking for new fruits or vegetables to try because I’m trying to make healthy life changes.

Today, my husband, Norman, tagged me in another Facebook post about these little cuties.  I was reading the article and low and behold! you can order them on  I spend a lot of time on Amazon as I’m a prime member and I have a firestick from Amazon and I have an Echo.  Yes I know.  Eventually my house will be a smart house.

Anyway, So I purchase 10 plants of these little cuties as well as some seeds for something called tigger melons.  These little melons look like orange watermelons on the outside and maybe cantaloupe on the inside.

So in about a week, I will have my latest purchase from Amazon.  I’m really excited about growing these and actually eating them.  I love melons, just not much on watermelons because they seem really messy.  These are small enough, no messiness implied.

Have a great day!

Memories of The Legend of Zelda

By April 28, 2017 Crazy Rants, General

So one year, my mom asked for a Nintendo system for Christmas.  It was when the original system came out with Super Mario brothers.  It kinda of looked like the picture to the above.  With it she got a game called “The Legend of Zelda”.  We played for hours.  It was so much fun!  My daughter sat with us and mom would play, but she liked navigating and I would run the controller.  I’m surprised I didn’t wind up with carpal tunnel earlier in my life.

The reason I’m posting this is because as many know, my mom had a stroke and is in skilled nursing right now.  Because of her eyesight she won’t be able to play and when we played it was at least 20 to 25 years ago.  We had so much funny and that is one of my good memories with my mom.

So in the last few days, I started playing a game called “Diggy’s Adventures”.  It is not anything like Zelda and I actually have most of the zelda games but no one to really play with that enjoys it.  As I was playing last night I was remembering how much fun it was and how I miss those times.  I’m actually tearing up a little bit as I type this.  As a said in an earlier post, my mom was my best friend.

So I’m a little nostalgic today.    There have been many new Zelda games and as I said, I have the majority.   I even have the original for my Wii system.  Maybe, one of these days, one of my grand children will want to play and even if I have to be navigator, that will be okay, because I will be making new memories and maybe they will remember that time like I have done.

Have a great weekend!

Jealousy and Envy

By April 27, 2017 Crazy Rants, General

Jealousy and Envy, we all have heard these words.  If you look up the definition of jealousy, it is an unhappy or angry feeling of wanting to have what someone else has.  This could pertain to anything anyone has.  Envy however, is the painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with the desire to possess the same advantage.

I think that most people feel both of these emotions as sometime in their life or at least knows someone that has these feelings.  I guess you could break these down as envy is wanting what someone has and jealousy is when you think someone is going to take what is yours.

Neither of these feelings or emotions are good.  Most of the time it drives us crazy insane.  As kids we probably experienced jealousy more than envy and we usually took the toy or game or whatever, until we were made to give it back by our parents.

As siblings I guess we could experience the same when we are older.  One has a better job, makes more money, or one has a bigger house or a better husband or more children or something.  This is not really healthy in my opinion.

My mother once told me that my older sister was jealous of what I had.  I really find that funny!  At the time, I was a single parent, working 10 to 12 hours a day.  Granted, I had my own house, a new vehicle, but it was just me and my daughter.

She was a stay at home mother, with a house, new car and a husband!  Those were things I wanted at some point in my life, but I don’t think I was ever jealous.  Envious yes!  Anyway, because of something I remembered this week, I thought this would be a good post.  It does make you think.

Athletic Greens and Zip Fizz

By April 26, 2017 Crazy Rants, General, People Treats, Uncategorized

I have been using this product probably for close to a year.  It is wonderful.  It has like 73 vegetables and fruits in it and if you don’t eat a lot of vegetables it is great.  I haven’t lost any weight from just these, but, I combine them with zip fizz and drink it twice a day.  The zipfizz has lots of vitamins in it and it is really good, comes in several flavors.  I do not drink the Athletic Greens alone.  I always add flavor.   There is a link for the Athletic Greens on the sidebar.  It will take you to and you can either purchase a pouch or the travel packs.  Mine usually last about 45 days.  I don’t drink two every day, but I try to drink at least one.

The zipp fizz is a tube and like I said come in several flavors.  This gives me energy on top of my extra vitamins.  You can get a variety pack or a single box of 30 of any of the flavors.  They do carry the variety pack and some times a berry pack at Costco, but I like the Orange Soda or Orange Dream.  I’ve put a link for that as well on the side bar.

Go check them out.

Would You Make The Call

By April 25, 2017 animals, Crazy Rants, General

So I’m just curious how people react when they see a child or an elderly person being mistreated or not being cared for properly.  Do you make that phone call to Protective Services?  Do you alert the authorities to what you have seen or what you think is taking place?

I was in Walmart and saw a child being jerked by his arm, by his father.  It wasn’t just  once to get the child to walk beside him, the father was doing it constantly and I wasn’t the only one that was witnessing it. The child was crying and you could tell he was in pain.  I wanted to call CPS but I was in the middle of Walmart shopping for some quick items and didn’t have my phone.  What would you do?

Lately, on Facebook and the news there have been videos of elderly people being abused by caretakers at assisted living facilities or nursing homes.  I’ve often wondered, if the people that were shooting the video was reporting it to APS -Adult Protective Services.  If you saw or visited a home or received a message or a phone call from someone stating that an elderly family member was not being taken care of properly or was being abused or neglected, would you make that call?  Would you make that call if the caretakers just couldn’t properly help the elderly person or family member?  It doesn’t even have to be an elderly person but just someone in the family.  Would you or could you make that call on a friend or another family member or just someone you are witnessing in the store?

If you saw an animal tied outside, or chain, without water or feed, in bad weather or even in good weather, what would you do?  I would probably get arrested for trespassing because I would not be able to walk away.  Its just like people being abuse or neglected.  If you are responsible for an animal, it is part of your family, take care of it that way.

Abuse and neglect are serious regardless of the situation, be it a family member, a friend or a stranger.  No one should ever be abused and that includes animals.  Neglect is the same thing.  However, if you sign up to take care of someone  or a pet and then realize you are in over your head, you should reach out for help, call social services or call animal control for whatever it is, person or animal.  Don’t just ignore the situation until you can’t get it fixed or under control.
